Tana River— Mandera North MP Aspirant Abdi Yunis Guliye has visited families displaced from Mandera North to areas including Tula, Bangal and Bisan in Tana River County where they migrated in search of pasture and water due to the severe ongoing drought ravaging Mandera and other parts of northern Kenya.
The drought intensified by the failure of recent rainy seasons has forced many pastoralist communities to relocate, depleting water sources, drying up pastures and threatening livestock livelihoods across the region.
During the visit, Mr. Guliye distributed essential assorted household items to the affected families reaffirming his commitment and solidarity.
Addressing the relocated families in Tana River, the MP said: “You have moved, but you are not forgotten. The drought may take water and pasture, but it will not break our unity.”
He was accompanied by several leaders, including Minority Whip and MCA Marothile Adan Ali Hussein; Chief Officer for Lands and Physical Planning in Machakos County Government, Abdullahi Guliye; Ugas Hussein Ali; Dr. Elyas Sheikh Abdinoor; Ahmed Mohamed; as well as youth representatives, ulama, and other key stakeholders.
