As Kenya prepares for the 2027 General Election, political activity is intensifying in Wajir County’s Eldas Ward, where the contest for the Member of County Assembly seat is beginning to take shape. Among the aspirants is Abdullahi Ibrahim Abdulle, a medical practitioner and public-sector professional whose candidacy draws on deep local roots and extensive experience in healthcare, public service and political science.
A significant boost came with the endorsement of Abdulle by Abikar Faqi, a sub-clan of the larger Mohamud Jibrail community. The endorsement was formalised at a gathering in Banadir Town attended by elders, women, youth, professionals and religious leaders. Supporters described the moment as a clear signal of community backing, with one message emerging strongly: Eldas has spoken.

Abdulle was born and raised in Eldas, where he completed his early education before attending Sabunley Secondary School. Both of his parents still live in the ward, and his longstanding family ties remain central to his connection with local issues. Those familiar with him describe him as approachable, accountable, skilled in mediation and guided by strong personal values.
His professional path began at the Kenya Medical Training College, where he qualified as a medical practitioner. He later served as Director of Medical Services and Public Health in the Mombasa County Government, gaining direct experience in public-sector healthcare administration. He has also worked with organisations including AMREF Kenya and the Kenya Red Cross. Complementing this background, he holds a diploma in Diplomacy and International Relations from East African University and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Kampala University.
Abdulle first entered active politics ahead of the 2022 General Election but stepped aside months before the polls to support other candidates. That decision, he has indicated, reflected a strategic choice rather than a retreat from public life. He has now returned with a focused bid for the Eldas Ward MCA seat in 2027, emphasising service, accountability, unity and inclusive development.
His proposed agenda prioritises practical improvements in service delivery. Drawing on his medical experience, he advocates better-equipped health facilities, reliable medical supplies, improved maternal and child healthcare, and greater access to qualified personnel—issues of particular relevance in Northern Kenya. Education features prominently, with calls for transparent bursary programmes, improved learning environments and expanded opportunities for technical, professional and entrepreneurial training.
Water access remains a pressing concern. Abdulle supports sustainable water projects, rehabilitation of existing infrastructure and reliable supply for households, schools and health facilities. On roads and other infrastructure, he stresses the need for resident-led prioritisation of projects. Youth empowerment is framed as partnership rather than mere outreach, with emphasis on skills development, entrepreneurship and better access to government and development opportunities. Support for women-led enterprises and greater participation by women in decision-making also form part of his platform.
Peace and social cohesion are presented as foundational. Abdulle, known for mediation, stresses dialogue involving elders, religious leaders, women and youth. Underlying these priorities is a consistent message of accountability: leadership as a public trust that requires transparency, consultation and public participation in setting and monitoring development priorities.
The Eldas Ward race is still forming, with further aspirants, alliances and realignments expected in the coming months. Abdulle enters the contest with a profile built on local roots, professional credentials and earlier political experience. His immediate task is to convert community endorsement and personal background into a broad, inclusive campaign that reaches residents across the ward—from Banadir and Eldas Town to Kilkiley, Masalale, Qarsa, Wargadud and Dadhantalahi.
