MANDERA— Mandera North Member of Parliament Bashir Abdullahi marked a landmark day for education in his constituency on Friday by launching the disbursement of Ksh. 40 million in NG-CDF bursary funds for the 2025/2026 financial year and later commissioning two major school infrastructure projects in Rhamu town.

Speaking during the morning bursary launch event in Rhamu, the MP described the Ksh. 40 million allocation as a deliberate intervention to keep bright but needy students in colleges and universities. “Education is the most powerful tool we can give our children to break the cycle of poverty and build a resilient community,” he said, emphasizing that the funds are targeted at clearing fee arrears to prevent dropouts.

MP Abdullahi reiterated his administration’s firm stance that no child in Mandera North should be forced out of school due to financial constraints. “By investing in these young minds today, we are securing the leadership and prosperity of our constituency for tomorrow,” he added. He thanked the NG-CDF committee, local leaders, and parents for their cooperation during the application and vetting process, while urging beneficiaries to study hard and make the constituency proud.

In the afternoon, the MP shifted focus to infrastructure, commissioning two flagship projects fully funded by the Mandera North NG-CDF.

At Shantoley Primary & Junior School, he officially handed over a modern ultra-administration block designed to provide teachers and administrators with a professional working environment. “Good leadership requires a professional environment,” the MP noted, adding that the new facility will enable school management to steer learners toward academic excellence more effectively.

At Salaam Integrated Primary School, four brand-new classrooms were commissioned to accommodate the growing student population. The MP described the modern learning spaces as safe, comfortable and motivating environments that will help children realize their full potential.

“Our mission is clear: to ensure that the distance between a child and their dreams is not hindered by poor infrastructure,” MP Abdullahi declared. He underscored that the projects represent a direct investment in the youth, the constituency’s greatest resource.

The MP thanked residents of Mandera North for their continued trust, pledging to ensure every shilling from the NG-CDF translates into visible, life-changing development on the ground.

Friday’s twin events underscore the MP’s sustained focus on education as a cornerstone of development in the arid constituency, where access to quality learning facilities and financial support remain critical challenges.
