Nairobi — National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed has launched a blistering attack on former President Uhuru Kenyatta and his brother Muhoho Kenyatta accusing them of diverting funds meant for Azimio la Umoja agents during the 2022 General Election, and deliberately leaving polling stations unguarded.
In a public statement, Junet directly responded to recent accusations from ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna who had challenged him to explain the widespread absence and non-payment of agents. Junet countered that Uhuru Kenyatta released the agents’ money to Muhoho Kenyatta who then handed operational control to Patrick Mburu, described as an IT expert and long-time Uhuru aide. Mburu, Junet claimed, still works closely with the former president — citing his presence on Uhuru’s recent Nigeria trip alongside Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka as proof.

Junet alleged that operations were run from a heavily restricted Westlands office that even Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga could not freely access. He asserted that no agents were ultimately deployed in key regions, including Mt Kenya and Luo Nyanza, describing the entire exercise as “a long con game.”
PRESS STATEMENT
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
I wish to respond to Senator Edwin Sifuna, the ODM Secretary General who moonlights for former President Uhuru Kenyatta within our party and who has challenged me to explain why agents in the 2022 General Election were neither paid nor…

The explosive claims revive one of Azimio’s most painful post-2022 grievances: the absence of agents in thousands of polling stations which the coalition argued left room for alleged result manipulation. The issue has periodically resurfaced amid lingering bitterness over the narrow defeat to President William Ruto.
The timing is significant. Junet’s statement follows his recent social media post showing Senator Sifuna in conversation with impeached former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, captioned “HII IMEENDA!!” — widely interpreted as signaling Sifuna’s political demise within ODM. Junet also dismissed suggestions of his own disloyalty pointing to his appointment as Minority Leader as evidence of Raila Odinga’s continued trust.
As of publication, there has been no public response from Uhuru Kenyatta, Muhoho Kenyatta, Patrick Mburu, or Senator Sifuna. Political observers note that the public laundering of 2022 grievances risks deepening fractures within ODM at a time when unity is needed ahead of future electoral contests.
