The University of Nairobi (UoN) has released updated guidelines for all graduands preparing for the institution’s 74th graduation ceremony.
In a notice issued on Tuesday, December 9, the university directed students to first confirm that all their academic records are accurate, including verification of marks uploaded on the Student Management Information System (SMIS) and completion of all required units.
UoN emphasised that only students who have fully met academic requirements will be awarded diplomas or conferred degrees.
The institution also reminded graduands to clear any outstanding fees at least one month before the graduation date.
The university stated the mandatory Ksh1,000 convocation fee must be paid before submitting an application for graduation. Those attending the ceremony will also pay the Ksh2,500 congregation fee.
The hiring of gowns has been standardised across all levels, with PhD, Masters, Postgraduate Diploma, Undergraduate, and Diploma graduands expected to pay Ksh4,000.

UoN clarified that all payments must be made prior to the application process to ensure inclusion in the final graduation list.
Graduands have also been advised to confirm the correct order of their names at the faculty level, as no changes will be allowed once a degree or diploma is conferred.
The institution said those who apply within the stipulated timelines and are fully cleared by their faculties will be included in the graduation register.
Meanwhile, the update comes just days after the Kenya School of Law extended the application deadline for the 2026/2027 Advocates Training Programme to December 19, 2025.
