NAIROBI — The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has confirmed it is actively investigating the reported disappearance of former Cabinet Secretary and prominent politician Raphael Tuju, following a missing person report filed by his family at Karen Police Station on Sunday.
Tuju, a former Cabinet Secretary , Jubilee Party Secretary General and media personality was last seen on Saturday afternoon, March 21. He had been scheduled to appear for an interview on Ramogi FM that evening but failed to show up, with his mobile phone remaining switched off since then.
Authorities discovered Tuju’s motor vehicle abandoned along Miotoni Lane in Karen, Nairobi, with hazard lights activated. A nearby security guard alerted police, leading to a rapid response from Karen Police Station officers. Crime Scene Investigators processed the scene and the vehicle was towed to the station for forensic examination.
A specialized DCI team has been deployed to lead the probe, coordinating with other government agencies and employing all available resources and techniques to trace Tuju’s whereabouts. Efforts to contact him directly have yielded no results.
In its statement, the DCI highlighted challenges in the investigation, noting that family members denied investigators access to Tuju’s residence on Mwitu Drive. The agency appealed for full cooperation from all parties, including unrestricted access to locations and timely sharing of information to expedite resolution.

The public is urged to provide any relevant details about Tuju’s movements, sightings of him or his vehicle, or suspicious activity in the Miotoni Lane or broader Karen area around March 21 or thereafter. Tips can be submitted confidentially via the DCI Toll-Free Line (0800 722 222), WhatsApp (0709 570 000), or at any nearest police station.
Tuju’s disappearance has sparked widespread concern, coming amid his ongoing legal battles related to a property dispute involving Dari Business Park in Karen. The investigation continues with the DCI promising updates on significant developments.
