MANDERA – Mandera North Constituency Member of Parliament Bashir Abdullahi presided over two transformative projects on Saturday: the official site handover for the county’s first-ever Affordable Housing Programme units in Rhamu Town and the commissioning of a state-of-the-art dining hall at Libin Nomadic Girls Senior School in Rhamu Dimtu.
The afternoon ceremony in Rhamu Town marked the formal handover of the Affordable Housing Programme site to the contractor. The project, delivering 320 modern household units is the first of its kind in Mandera County. Speaking at the event, MP Abdullahi hailed it as “a monumental turning point” for the region emphasizing that it brings modern living standards to local residents.
“I wish to extend my deepest gratitude to H.E. President William Samoei Ruto for this noble project,” Abdullahi said. “By bringing 320 household units to Rhamu, the President has demonstrated a true commitment to ensuring that even the furthest regions of our country benefit from the national development agenda.”

The handover was attended by officials from the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, alongside Mandera County Government representatives from the departments of lands, public works, and the devolved unit, led by CEC for Roads, Transport and Public Works, Amina Hassan. MP Abdullahi pledged to closely monitor progress to ensure timely completion and high-quality standards.
Later that evening, MP Bashir Abdullahi commissioned a new ultra-modern dining hall at Libin Nomadic Girls Senior School. Describing the facility as “a testament to our commitment to dignifying the learning environment for our daughters,” he stressed its role in supporting nomadic girls’ education.
“Education is the greatest equalizer,” he said. “When we empower the girl child with a conducive environment, we empower an entire generation.”

The MP thanked the NG-CDF board, school management, project committee, and the community for their support, reiterating his focus on transforming education in Mandera North.
The twin events emphasize a significant step toward improved housing and educational infrastructure in one of Kenya’s most marginalized regions signaling stronger national and local government collaboration for inclusive development.
