WAJIR— Wajir County is celebrating an outstanding achievement as Hafsa Abubakar Sharif emerged as the top-performing girl in the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination, securing an impressive A Plain with 81 points.

Eldas Member of Parliament Adan Keynan hailed Hafsa’s success as “exemplary and historic,” describing it as a testament to exceptional hard work, discipline, resilience, and determination. Coming from a humble background in a region where girl-child education often faces structural and socio-cultural barriers, Hafsa’s feat stands as powerful proof that excellence is achievable through focus and perseverance.

In a statement, the MP announced that the Adan Keynan Foundation (TAKF) will award Hafsa a full scholarship covering her entire university education, enabling her to pursue her dream of a career in medicine. “In recognition of her outstanding academic excellence and to motivate our girls to thrive, we commit to sponsor her fully as she chases her dreams in the medical profession,” Keynan said.

The foundation’s support extends equally to top male performers, with similar assistance already provided to Ismail Ahmed, Wajir County’s overall top student who also attained an A Plain.

Keynan emphasised that Hafsa’s accomplishment deserves widespread celebration, particularly in a region where girls continue to battle challenges to access and complete education. “It stands as a compelling source of motivation to girls still in school, affirming that hard work truly pays and that their dreams are both valid and achievable,” he noted.

The MP concluded with an inspiring message to all girls in the region: “Keep striving, remain focused and believe in yourselves. The future is bright and it belongs to you. Keep shining, keep winning and keep going!!”

Hafsa’s success highlights growing opportunities for girls in northern Kenya and reinforces the transformative power of education in unlocking youth potential.
